Edmonds’ Rich History and Your Home’s Plumbing
Edmonds is a city in Snohomish County with a storied history and a vibrant community spirit. Initially a small fishing town, the town’s settlement began in the 1870s when a logger named George Brackett, widely considered the founder of Edmonds — discovered the town by canoe.
Together with other early settlers, Brackett helped build the early town, and by 1884, the area had a post office and was platted. Edmonds was eventually incorporated in 1890, and the railway arrived a year later.
Initially, Edmonds was primarily a mill town. However, as timber became scarce and alternative roofing materials became more popular, many mills closed, with the last closing in 1951. This compelled the city to transition to other industries, with many residents commuting to nearby cities for work.
