Lake Stevens’ Rich History and Your Home’s Plumbing
Lake Stevens is a city in Snohomish County, WA that is named after the glacial lake it surrounds. It is located about eight miles east of Everett.
Initially home to the Snohomish people, the area experienced rapid growth in the early 20th century when one of the first early settlers, the Rucker Brothers, opened a sawmill in 1907. Unfortunately, the mill closed in 1925 after the second of two major fires.
However, this unfortunate turn of events didn’t completely upend the area’s economy, as the area became a popular resort community between the 1920s and 1950s. In 1960, Lake Stevens was incorporated as a city, following an influx of many businesses from the downtown area to a new shopping center.
Eventually, due to its natural beauty, thriving businesses, and proximity to other major cities like Everett, Lake Stevens attracted more residents, changing its character from a small, rural town to a suburban community.
This evolution from a small town to a bustling city means Lake Stevens homes feature diverse plumbing systems — from Old Town’s vintage homes to Hillside Vista’s contemporary homes.
