Beaverton’s History and Why We’re Proud to Serve the Beaverton Community
The Tualatin Valley was originally home to the Atfalati band of the Kalapuya people, whose village Chachimahiyuk (“place of the beaver”) gave Beaverton its name. After Euro‑American settlers arrived in the late 1840s, pioneers like Lawrence Hall and Thomas Denney built gristmills and sawmills, and Canyon Road connected the settlement to Portland in 1860.
Beaverton opened its first post office in 1872 and incorporated in 1893 with just 400 residents. Early enterprises included a Ford dealership and, briefly, a silent‑film studio in the 1920s. The arrival of MAX Light Rail and mixed‑use projects such as The Round in the late 20th century signaled a shift toward transit‑oriented development.
Today Beaverton is a thriving suburb with around 97,500 people and a median household income of about $94,279. It hosts headquarters for Nike and other high‑tech firms and features green spaces like Tualatin Hills Nature Park. Fast Plumbing & Drain proudly serves Beaverton’s diverse neighborhoods and businesses.
